Al-Nahrain Foundation for Transparency and Integrity held an online workshop introducing the Iraq Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative and discussing data in its 2019 and 2020 reports. Al-Nahrain Foundation for Transparency and Integrity, represented by its president, Mohammed Rahim Al-Rubaie, and legal team director Badr Talal, participated in a roundtable on civil society organizations’ role in accountability, opportunities and solutions to the anti-corruption challenge. The event was organized by the United Nations Development Programme and the Human Rights Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq, in cooperation with civil society organizations, at the Babylon Hotel in Baghdad.
The foundation participated in the fifth regional conference of the Coalition of Women Leaders, which aims to promote integrity and combat corruption in the Arab region. Held in Amman, Jordan, on March 19–20, the conference discussed issues concerning the role of Arab women leaders in advancing integrity and anti-corruption principles.
Al-Nahrain Foundation for Transparency and Integrity held a training workshop under the “Enhancing Transparency, Protecting Public Funds and Implementing E-Governance” program for Anbar Education Directorate employees and representatives of civil society organizations.
On International Women’s Day, Al-Nahrain Network for Integrity and Transparency launched the “Iraqi Women for Integrity and Anti-Corruption” alliance with the participation of the Federal Commission of Integrity and Al-Nahrain Foundation for Transparency and Integrity. Participants announced that the meeting would form the nucleus of an alliance bringing together civil society, media and academic representatives from the public and private sectors.
A Transparency International team visited the headquarters of Al-Nahrain Foundation for Transparency and Integrity and met with members of its board to assess the foundation’s working environment.
