On Tuesday, March 22, 2022, Mr. Mohammed Raheem, Director of Al-Nahrain Institute for Supporting Transparency and Integrity, met with Mr. Saad Fayadh, Director General of the Parliamentary Development Institute at the Council of Representatives, to discuss strengthening mechanisms of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
Mr. Mohammed Raheem expressed his aspiration to organize courses and seminars focused on oversight and anti-corruption, highlighting the vital role of the Parliamentary Development Institute in improving the performance of the Council of Representatives, engaging with civil society, and supporting oversight efforts in cooperation with stakeholders concerned with combating corruption and promoting parliamentary integrity.
For his part, Mr. Fayadh emphasized enhancing opportunities for collaboration with Al-Nahrain Institute in areas of shared interest, particularly in holding legal and financial workshops and training programs related to transparency, integrity, and oversight. He further noted the Institute’s commitment to broadening partnerships and building strong relationships with entities interested in training and capacity-building for Members of Parliament and staff.
Mr. Fayadh also pointed out that the newly elected Members of Parliament are keen to strengthen the Council’s oversight role and to carry out their duties effectively, which requires their participation in training, development, and orientation programs.
