Al-Nahrain Foundation for Transparency and Integrity, in cooperation with Al-Nahrain Network for Integrity and Transparency and in the presence of Mr. Sharaf Al-Mousawi, Coordinator of the Arab Network for Promoting Integrity and Combating Corruption, held a discussion session on Iraq’s ranking in Transparency International’s 2021 Corruption Perceptions Index.
The session included participation from a group of civil society organizations.
Mr. Sharaf Al-Mousawi presented a report on Iraq’s position in the sources used by Transparency International, explaining the country’s ranks and scores.
Mr. Mohammed Rahim Al-Rubaie, President of Al-Nahrain Network for Integrity and Transparency, discussed the report’s key findings and indicators, noting that the index relies on factors such as democracy and economic impact as risks for investors and obstacles to investment.
Researcher Haneen Amer, a member of Al-Nahrain Foundation for Transparency and Integrity, provided a detailed report on Iraq’s position on the index, its global and Arab rankings, the main challenges, and offered important recommendations to help improve Iraq’s standing on the Corruption Perceptions Index.
